Grind and Seal Flooring versus Polished Concrete: Which is Right for Your Denver Warehouse?

Flooring with a smooth and high gloss is a popular look for warehouses and commercial facilities in Denver. Not only is it sleek and professional, but it is also easy for your employees and machinery to navigate. The two main ways to get this look are with polished concrete or grind and seal flooring. In terms of appearance, the two options look very similar, but the methods of achieving them, the resulting durability, and the cost make it important to choose the right one for your property. Differences Between Polished Concrete and Grind and Seal Floors Polished concrete relies on using commercial floor sanders with increasingly fine grains of diamond sanding. These diamonds hone a concrete floor to the desired level of gloss, ranging from matte to high gloss. Stain can be applied, if desired, to add color. but the end product is exposed concrete.. Grind and seal concrete floors starts by grinding the existing concrete to make a smooth surface. The next step is cleaning and, if necessary, staining the concrete. A contractor then applies a layer of epoxy […]

BENEFITS OF POLISHED CONCRETE

Colorado Concrete Repair specializes in industrial and commercial flooring solutions, including polished concrete, so we’d like to take a moment to share with you polished concrete benefits. Polished concrete floors are a green flooring solution that also contributes to the awarding of a LEED designation; they are also durable and increase the ambient lighting in each space. Let’s review the some of the benefits of polished concrete below. SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF POLISHED CONCRETE INCLUDE: Stain-Resistant: The mechanical process of polishing the concrete, including densifying and sealing the surface, tightens the porous concrete floor to repel liquids, including oil, water and other contaminants. This prevents them from contaminating the surface, however it is still a good idea to clean up spills when they happen, especially acidic liquids. Increased Slip-Resistance: The process of mechanically grinding and polishing a concrete floor increases its coefficient of friction when compared to ordinary concrete. The shininess of the polished concrete can be tricky; it does not make the surface more slippery, but instead polished concrete often exceeds OSHA standards for floors. Less Maintenance: Most flooring systems, […]

CONCRETE FLOOR MAINTENANCE

HOW TO MAINTAIN CONCRETE FLOORS In this article, we’ll walk you through how to maintain your concrete floors. Concrete floor maintenance is a key aspect of protecting your investment! So you chose to keep your concrete floor, instead of covering it with laminate, tile, wood, or carpet. Congratulations! You now have a floor that will take less maintenance than the other flooring options, especially carpet! However, keep in mind that virtually all flooring requires some sort of maintenance and regular attention. The amount of maintenance your floor will need, highly depends on the amount of foot and vehicular traffic that it receives. For instance, if you have a concrete floor in your residence, you will likely get away with a simple cleaning regimen with the occasional sweeping and damp mopping. On the other hand, commercial flooring may require daily sweeping and mopping, but keep in mind that both residential and commercial flooring do not do well with acidic cleaners and sometimes even soap-based products. Always refer to your coating contractor if you have questions about maintenance. Read on to find out […]

WAREHOUSE POLISHED CONCRETE FLOOR Home Stars opened up its second location in Parker, Colorado, and chose to show off its fine collection of furniture with a polished concrete floor. We were happy to work alongside owner, Mark, and his general contractor, Bryan, to give them the floor that would stunningly show off their beautiful collection! He wanted a floor that would show off his collection, yet still be pleasing to the eye. Polished concrete is all the rage right now for commercial, industrial, and municipal facilities. It is relatively easy to maintain and lasts for years and years. It is designed to last 10 to 20+ years if it is maintained correctly. COMMERCIAL POLISHED CONCRETE WITH BLACK DYE

MIZU, DENVER HIGHLANDS CONTEMPORARY JAPANESE RESTAURANT, POLISHED CONCRETE FLOOR LOOKS STYLISH AND IS EASY TO MAINTAIN   COMMERCIAL POLISHED CONCRETE FLOORS ARE TAKING OVER…OUR STORY RECENTLY… August 2016 we polished a restaurant floor for a new sushi restaurant opening in the Highlands, Denver, CO. The client chose a polished concrete with black dye to show off the beautiful and upscale style of the restaurant. The floor had mastic, or glue, on the surface that we had to remove before we started polishing. Then, we polished the restaurant floor with a traditional 800 grit polishing system and cast black dye into the concrete. We are proud to say that our client is happy with our work and even wanted us to fix up a concrete wall that he had behind the bar area. We love giving our clients the look they desire. Commercial polished concrete floors are durable, easy to clean, beautiful, and long-lasting.   Polished concrete is a great flooring option for several different purposes: schools, auto shops, warehouses, car show rooms, retail shops, museums, and just about anywhere you can think […]
